On Nov. 3, Pakistani President and Chief of Army Staff Pervez Musharraf declared emergency in Pakistan and suspended the Constitution.
The Muslim Student Awareness Network along with Pakistanis at Stanford, Sanskriti, and the Stanford History Department will host a panel discussion on the emergency state in Pakistan on Tuesday, Nov. 13.
The panel will include:
Larry Diamond - Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution and expert on democracy in developing countries.
Aishwari Kumar - Assistant Professor of Modern South Asian History
Erik Jensen - Lecturer at Stanford Law School and CDDRL Faculty Member
Paul Kapur - Visiting professor at Center for International Security and Cooperation and expert on security in South Asia
Moderated by:
Hicham ben Abdallah - Visiting Scholar at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies
The panel will offer different perspectives on the current situation and discuss the regional and international implications of the emergency state in Pakistan.
